The birth of this song is similar to Fuelling His Anger, where I was laid on the floor writing some lyrics, and came up with these. The anorexia angle I thought was something that wasn't really discussed and I done lots of research on it. I was appalled at the pro anorexia sites on the internet, and two of my ex girlfriends related to this song as they had suffered from it. The person in this song loves his girlfriend, but doesn't know how to handle this self-destruction, and puts it down to beauty magazines and low self esteem; though he thinks she is wonderful. The reality is very different and those who are suffering from it need help as soon as possible.

In my attempt to write the quintessential country song I needed a suitably long title, waffle on about love, something to do with gambling and something to do with your ‘ma and pa'. In the end I came up with this. This and If You Don't Mind are the two songs from the album I can actually play to perform, and so it's very special to me this one. Originally wrote to impress Suzi, who I had a crush on, it was inspired when her and Carrie often frequented our local pub and often danced to the country songs which were played at the pub. Stupidly, I thought if I wrote one she might have danced for me! Oh, young love!
